Taylor returns to Sandy Park

Fly-half makes a welcome comeback

Exeter Chiefs fans may recognise the face but maybe not the name as Taylor Perry heads to Sandy Park for part two of her time in Devon.

When the fly-half was last here, she played under her maiden name Taylor Black. She made her debut for the club against Gloucester-Hartpury in October 2020 and went on to feature in 14 league games, scoring three tries.

Perry said: “Joining the Exeter Chiefs is an exciting opportunity to build on the fantastic experience I had with them in 2020/2021. Witnessing the team's growth over the past three years has been inspiring, and it's exactly what attracted me to join.

“Their near misses with the league finals only fuels my belief that this team is capable of finishing on top. If I’m able to come and contribute to this, I would be very grateful for the opportunity. With exceptional coaches, support staff, and talented teammates, I'm eager to elevate my game and see what next season holds for us.”

Since her first season with Chiefs, the 23-year-old has played for Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. She has racked up 14 caps for her country, after missing out on the 2021 Women’s Rugby World Cup with a serious knee injury. She has also been part of Canada’s sevens programme this year.

Head coach Susie Appleby said: “Taylor is another returning player we are welcoming back to our squad. We always say that ‘once a Chief, always a Chief’.

“Taylor was fantastic the season she was with us, frustratingly cut short by injury. She now has extra experience under her belt at domestic and international level, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what she can bring to our game next season while adding some competition for the No 10 jersey.”
