Marcus is right up Chiefs street

Marcus Street will be back plying his trade at Sandy Park next season

Exeter Chiefs tighthead prop Marcus Street has committed his future to the club by signing a new contract.

The local boy progressed into the senior ranks at Sandy Park for the 2017/18 season and since then has clocked up 84 career appearances having originally been described by his academy coaches as a “student of the game”.

Six years at Sandy Park now makes Street one of the experienced heads amongst the squad but the prop says he hasn’t finished learning yet.

He added: “Having been born and bred in Exeter, my proudest achievement is being able to pull on the jersey and call myself an Exeter Chief.

“As I’m staying at Sandy Park, I hope I can continue to grow as a player and a person as we see what we can accomplish as a squad going forward.”

During his time in the Chiefs academy, the front rower helped Exeter College lift the National AASE League title in November 2016. Honing his skills with time spent on dual-registration with Plymouth Albion, Street’s first experience of wearing Chiefs colours came in the A League for Exeter Braves and appearances in the Anglo-Welsh Cup.

On the international platform, Street has age-grade honour for England at both U18 and U20 level – appearing in the Six Nations and Junior World Championships competitions for his country.

At just 25 years old, Street is technically now one of the older, experienced heads in Rob Baxter’s squad and an individual the Director of Rugby believes could be integral to the further development of his Chiefs scrum going forward.
