Hundreds of runners beat the heat and took to paths alongside the River Exe for the Exeter Live Better Marathon and Community Five Mile Race.
More than 600 people signed up for the two events which are organised by Exeter City Community Trust, the partner charity of Exeter City Football Club.
Daniel Ridgeway, the running events lead for the charity, said: “It was a fantastic event, and wonderful to see so many people of all ages taking part. Our role as a charity is to promote health and wellbeing across our city, which is one of the reasons we organised the Community Five Mile event – enabling even more people to get involved in running and enjoying this beautiful area of our city.”
The male and female Marathon winners at the weekend event were Adam Holland and Kate Sadler and the winners of the Community Five Mile were Remi Delhaye and Sofia Lenzi.
Exeter City Community Trust gives free places to its partner charities, who this year are Exeter Leukaemia Fund, Children’s Hospice South West, Alright Mate? CIC and Julian House.
Its running events are supported by main sponsor Tozers LLP, and community partners Exeter College, Exeter Live Better, Radio Exe, Trowers and Hamlin and the ILEC Group, as well as many other local businesses who have donated prizes for the winners and discounts for volunteers and participants.
The final event in the charity’s running season is the 10k River Run which takes place on June 28. The new season events start with the Halloween 5 and 10-mile events on October 27 and the ever-popular Santa Run on December 1.
