As a result the home meeting against Oxford, on April 6 has been postponed. The meeting against Poole, on March 30 was also called off until a later date.

To put this into context, February was the wettest on record in Plymouth, and March was also exceptionally wet.

A spokesman said: "The yearly total so far is 677mm, more than half what we would normally see annually so you can see what we have been up against! Although this is disappointing, it is a very wise decision because the track is still currently spongy and it needs a consistent spell of sunshine to bake it dry: sunshine that we just have not had anywhere near enough of!

"The rescheduled date will be posted as soon as they have been decided. We would like to thank you for your understanding and continued support."
