Exeter City enjoyed a cracking Easter picking up four valuable points.
Reece Cole's penalty in the final minute of normal time secured a 2-1 victory against Cheltenham Town this afternoon (April 1), following on from a Luke Harris equaliser which had cancelled out Ben Williams' opener for the Robins.
"In the first half, if it was boxing match, I think it would've been stopped. We were outstanding and the only thing we didn't do was put the ball in the net," said City manager Gary Caldwell.
"Nil-nil at half-time and they were always going to come out with more energy and raise their game and we started poorly.
"To go a goal down here against a team fighting for their life and produce a comeback, it's outstanding. We stuck to our principles and got that win."
On Good Friday, the Grecians were held to a 1-1 draw when they played Charlton at St James Park after a late, unfortunate, own goal denied City all three points.
A bright start from the Grecians saw Ben Purrington give City an early lead. The game then fell quiet as City put together a defensive masterclass to deny Charlton for the next 80 minutes before Chuks Aneke’s header equalised for the Addicks off the chest of Cheick Diabate.
City are now sitting at 15th in League One with 51 points.
