Gary Caldwell watched his team hold on to their lead
Gary Caldwell was delighted with Exeter City's 1-0 win over Burton Albion at St James Park.
Despite being 1-0 up at half-time through Reece Cole's strike, City faced an uphill battle in the second half following Zak Jules' dismissal in the tunnel for an incident, meaning the Grecians would play the final 45 minutes with only ten men.
"The supporters appreciated the effort and we needed every single one of them out there today," Gary said after the fans' backed his side in the final moments of the match.
"It was ten men, backs to wall and we needed them to give us that last ounce of energy. The players were incredible in the second half, not just in determination and team spirit, but in still trying to play with courage.
"We actually still created some brilliant opportunities and it was an absolutely amazing effort by every single person in this stadium today.
"We had the courage and bravery with the ball and the effort and legwork of the front players awas incredible - and we were able to freshen them up."
