Sonny signs up!

Sonny Cox has signed a new two year deal to keep him at Exeter City until the end of the 2025/26 season, with the option of an additional third year.

Sonny, 19, who made his Football League debut in August 2022 has racked up 51 first team appearances for the Grecians and has scored four league goals and two assists.

The 2023/24 League One season saw more opportunities for Sonny in red and white and after flourishing in a loan spell at National League South side Yeovil Town, Cox was recalled to St James Park to lead the line - a role he took in his stride, scoring three goals in a three week period between December 2023 and January 2024.

Speaking about signing an extension, former Exmouth Community College student, Sonny said: "It feels great as it is my boyhood club. I have played here since I was six and it's always been my dream to play for Exeter and to sign a new contract.

"I feel like I've come back from my loan at Yeovil Town and have made an impact so I've just got to keep working hard. Playing in front of the Big Bank and scoring a few goals feels great.

"My main aim is to score goals as a striker. It's about doing the simple things well and running for the team and when you do that the goals will come.

"It's great to sign a new deal but it doesn't mean I'm going to stop putting the effort in. I'm going to want more and more so I can hopefully make a big difference to the team."
