Caldwell finds comfort in defeat

Gary Caldwell praised his players

Gary Caldwell said he was proud of his Exeter City side despite their defeat to promotion hunting Peterborough United at the Weston Homes Stadium.

Tom Carroll's first goal for the Grecians cancelled out an early Mason Ephron-Clark strike, but were undone in the second half by Kwame Poku's effort. Despite that, Caldwell felt pleased with aspects of the afternoon.

"There's disappointment in the result but pride in the performance," Gary said.

"After conceding early, that can be hard for the players mentally but they kept going and did what they asked of them to get level. 

"The second half was two teams trying to win and I just felt there was ten minute period where we kept giving the ball away and invited pressure which is when thety then scored.

"But, huge pride and there are plenty of aspects we can take into next week's game."
