Carroll looks for a bounce back

City Midfielder Tom Carroll

City midfielder Tom Carroll is confident that the Grecians can bounce back from New Years Day's disappointment as they face Carlisle United at home on Saturday.

Despite losing 3-2 at Reading, four positive points on home soil over the festive period is a springboard to continue well at home, but City face a tough test against the Cumbrians who themselves sit in the relegation zone in League One.

"I'm really confident. The home performances have given us a boost, and the fans as well. When it's a positive atmosphere at SJP the boys love playing there and we know it's our responsibility to give them more to cheer about," Tom said.

"There is no denying it's a massive game. They won at the weekend so they will be cominh here confident, but we believe we are a much better side than where we are in the table, so that's down to us now to turn it around.

"It's all on us because the manager puts us out there to do the job. It's understandable the supporters get frustrated and we respect their opinion, but when the are positive it definitely helps."
