Caldwell eyes the transfer window

Exeter City suffered defeat away to Reading

Exeter City manager Gary Caldwell is looking to the transfer window after the Grecians suffered a 3-2 defeat at relegation rivals Reading on New Year's Day.

Despite pegging the hosts back twice, City were undone by a Femi Azeez second half strike to fall into the relegation zone for the first time this season.

"We gave bad goals away at bad times," Gary said.

"I don't think the overall performance was bad but if you concede three goals the way we did away from home, you give yourself a mountain to climb. There were poor individuals errors for the goals, but some of our play was good. Some of our possession was good but when we lost the ball we looked poor defensively

"The long balls Reading played, we have to defend so much better - the type and timing of the goals, we have to do better.

"The January window is open now so we have to add depth and quality to the squad."
