This Christmas, Theatre Alibi invites families across Exeter and beyond to experience the wonder of Winterwood, a festive journey like no other.
Running from December 14th to January 5th, this interactive event will transform Emmanuel Hall into a magical, pine-scented forest filled with enchanting characters and heart-warming stories.
Winterwood isn’t just a seasonal event - it’s a celebration of community imagination. Over the past few months, Theatre Alibi has been running storytelling workshops with children from schools in Exeter’s St Thomas area. The stories and characters that these children came up with have become the inspiration for Winterwood, ensuring that local voices are at the heart of the event.
The collaboration doesn’t stop there. Winterwood is brought to life through the combined talents of Theatre Alibi, Angel Exit Theatre, and Above Bounds. The setting is further enriched by the vibrant illustrations of Katy Welsh and the evocative photography of Richard Budd, adding layers of artistry to the immersive environment.
Visitors to Winterwood will find themselves wandering through a snow-dusted forest, discovering festive surprises and magical encounters along the way. From exploring the delightful gingerbread shop to uncovering the treasures of the Ever-After Emporium, every corner has a unique story to tell, inviting families to participate in interactive missions and become part of the narrative.
Alongside the adventure, guests can enjoy a warming cup of hot chocolate as they explore the hall’s festive transformation. Whether it’s the twinkling lights, the scent of fresh pine, or the joyful storytelling, Winterwood promises an unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages.
