Developer submits 14-unit Sky Park plan

Plans have been submitted by an Exeter-based firm for 14 small-scale industrial units at a major Devon hub.

Onyx Business Parks is hoping to secure permission at the Skypark for its scheme of two-storey units that will have an open plan layout.

The 14 units look set to be split across three separate buildings, which will surround a parking area in the centre.

Onyx, which has developed sites in locations including Plymouth, Kingskerswell and Barnstaple, as well as an existing site on the Skypark, said each of its proposed units would also have EV charging capabilities.

The site will be accessed from the existing Tiger Moth Road.

In documents submitted with the planning application, it states the proposed buildings will use a “simple material palette”, with external walls likely to be red brick with grey vertical boarding.

The roof of each building is proposed to be composite sheets, while windows and doors will have PPC aluminium frames.

Its design and access statement said: “This application aims to provide space for local businesses to grow and create a structure which is suitable and well fitted for its proposed use.”

Skypark, near Exeter Airport, sits in the Exeter and East Devon enterprise zone. Skypark’s website states that as “home to a dynamic business community with over 1,000 jobs, it continues to draw investment, driving ongoing expansion and innovation”.

The plans have been submitted to East Devon District Council, but it is not yet clear when the application will be decided.
