Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital has been awarded prestigious national accreditation in recognition of the quality and safety of its endoscopy services.
The hospital has achieved Joint Advisory Group (JAG) accreditation – a respected benchmark granted by the Royal College of Physicians that confirms high standards in gastrointestinal endoscopy care.
The accreditation means patients undergoing procedures to diagnose and treat conditions affecting the stomach, bowel, oesophagus and rectum can be assured they are receiving care that meets nationally recognised standards for safety, consistency and clinical excellence.
JAG accreditation assesses endoscopy services across a wide range of measures, including patient experience, clinical quality, staff training, governance and the overall environment in which procedures are carried out.
Inspectors from the Royal College of Physicians praised several aspects of the Exeter hospital’s service during their assessment.

They highlighted the strong patient-centred approach of staff, noting that patients reported feeling well cared for throughout their treatment.
The assessment team also commended the hospital for maintaining a clean, efficient and well-organised clinical environment.
Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital provides endoscopy services to both NHS and private patients from across Devon, and the new accreditation adds to a growing list of national recognitions.
It follows the hospital’s recent success in being awarded the National Joint Registry Gold Award for its commitment to high-quality care and patient safety in orthopaedic services.
Patricia Warwick, Hospital Director at Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital, welcomed the achievement and paid tribute to the staff who helped secure it.
She said: “Being recognised by JAG is a proud moment for our hospital and is testament to the dedication and expertise of our entire team.
“Every member of staff – doctors, nurses and other clinical staff, through to cleaners and administrators – plays a vital role in ensuring patients receive safe, personalised care.
“This achievement for our endoscopy services reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering exceptional care to every patient who walks through our doors.”
“We’re excited to build on this success and continue investing in services that make a real difference.”
