A new Charles Tyrwhitt store is set to open at Princesshay in Exeter early 2026, creating eight new retail jobs and adding to the city centre’s changing mix of shops.
The menswear brand has confirmed it will open its latest South West outlet at the shopping centre in February 2026.
The store, located next to Sweaty Betty, will sell formalwear, casual clothing and accessories, and will offer in-store fitting and styling services.
For Exeter residents, the opening represents both new employment opportunities and another national retailer choosing to invest in the city at a time when high streets across the UK continue to face challenges.

Princesshay has seen several well-known brands open or expand in recent months, including Victoria’s Secret and Sports Direct, reflecting ongoing confidence in the city centre as a retail destination.
Princesshay reports that footfall increased by almost six per cent over the past year, alongside 13 new lettings and 19 lease renewals across the centre and nearby Northern Properties.
Centre managers say this activity helps support the wider local economy by sustaining jobs, attracting visitors and encouraging spending in surrounding cafes, restaurants and independent businesses.
Local residents have previously raised concerns about the balance between national chains and independent traders in Exeter’s city centre.
While some welcome the convenience and job creation that larger brands bring, others continue to call for stronger protection and promotion of local businesses to ensure the city retains its distinct character.
Alongside retail growth, Princesshay has continued to host public events and community activities, including markets, outdoor screenings and charity events.
The centre says it supported more than 100 community and charitable initiatives in 2025, contributing to city-wide events such as Pride and the Christmas celebrations.
Jon Walton, Princesshay Centre Manager, said the centre’s recent performance reflected collaboration with retailers, partners and the local community.
The new store adds to recent retail activity in Exeter city centre, which has seen several national brands open or expand in the past year.
