Festive runners of all ages turned out near Exeter on Sunday, November 30, as hundreds took part in Hospiscare’s first ever Jingle Jog, helping raise thousands for end-of-life care across the region.
From toddlers in tinsel to seasoned trail runners, around 500 people completed routes starting at Greendale Farm Shop, accompanied by dogs, parents and supporters.
The event sold out in its debut year and has already generated more than £20,000 for the charity, with donations still arriving.
Among those taking part was a Mid Devon family running in memory of Simon Land, a 37-year-old electrician and father-of-three who died at the hospice last year.

His widow, Kelly, took part alongside their daughters and wider family.
“It was a challenge for those little legs, but we were determined to give it our all,” she said. “We wanted to help give the gift of care to others, because we know Simon always gave his all.”
The younger children completed a 2K loop around the farm’s animal pens while older runners joined a 5K route. More experienced joggers tackled a 10K timed trail run.
Kelly said her family wanted to support the hospice after the care Simon received during his final days.
“We never imagined we’d need Hospiscare at our age,” she said. “Driving to the hospice, knowing I was taking my husband to the place he would die, was awful. But the staff made us feel welcome and supported. I don’t know what we would have done without them.”
For the family, the Jingle Jog was a chance to remember Simon, do something positive together and raise money for a service they hope others will support.
“You never think you’ll need this care until you do,” Kelly said. “Everyone should get involved in supporting the hospice.”
Sunday’s runners received Jingle Jog medals before joining Greendale’s first Christmas Market, featuring local crafts, festive food and entertainment.
Proceeds from the event will go toward Hospiscare’s work supporting people across Exeter, central and east Devon.
The charity relies on fundraising for more than 75 per cent of its income, meaning the money raised will directly help local families this Christmas.
