Exeter choir to bring annual carols back to Exeter Cathedral this December

Two-night event returns alongside the Cathedral Green Christmas Market, with collections supporting Exeter Leukaemia Fund

Exeter choir to bring annual carols back to Exeter Cathedral this December

Trumpeter Ross Brown will be playing at this year's Carols in the Cathedral

Exeter Philharmonic Choir will return to Exeter Cathedral this December for its annual “Carols in the Cathedral” events, a long-running fixture in the city’s Christmas calendar.

The concerts, taking place on Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 December, draw large local audiences each year and are timed to coincide with the Christmas Market on Cathedral Green.

The setting inside the cathedral, paired with audience participation in traditional carols, has made the events a regular part of Exeter’s winter season.

This year’s programme includes performances from trumpeters Cameron Todd and Ross Brown, soprano Katie Trethewey and organist Stephen Tanner.

Alongside music from the choir, attendees will be invited to join in several well-known carols.

The concerts will also raise money for Exeter Leukaemia Fund, with retiring collections on both nights.

ELF’s chief executive, Molly Southwood, is due to speak at the event about the charity’s work supporting haematology patients and their families.

Both concerts start at 7.30pm. Tickets are available online or by phone.
