The Christmas Cards in St. Martin's Church - Credit: Cards for Charity
A popular Christmas tradition has returned to the heart of Exeter as the Cards for Good Causes pop-up shop reopened this week at St Martin’s Church, just off Exeter Cathedral Green.
The seasonal shop offers Christmas cards, gifts, wrapping paper and decorations, with proceeds supporting more than 80 charities, including local causes. From mental health and children’s charities to hospices and animal welfare organisations, shoppers can support a range of causes while preparing for the festive season.

Residents visiting the historic church will find traditional card designs alongside new additions this year, including Braille Christmas cards in support of the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB). For the first time, visitors in Exeter will also have the option to print personalised Braille messages in store.
Christine Ansell, CEO of Cards for Good Causes, said the pop-up is more than just a place to shop. “Each card and gift purchased makes a real difference. Not only do you support the charities we work with, but you’re also helping to keep community spaces like St Martin’s thriving.”
Over the past decade, the initiative has raised £20 million for charities and contributed an additional £2.5 million to community spaces such as churches and libraries across the UK. Volunteers play a key role in running the temporary shop, many of whom are local residents returning year after year to help.
For those unable to visit in person, items are also available online with same-day dispatch and free delivery on orders over £40.
The pop-up shop will remain open in the lead-up to Christmas, offering Exeter residents a way to give back while supporting local spaces and national charities.
