Exeter and Devon Crematorium has donated £5,000 to Hospice UK to support vital end-of-life care services.
The contribution is part of a broader initiative by crematoria across the UK to back the charity’s work in providing personalised support for patients and families during life’s most challenging moments.
Hospice UK is the national charity dedicated to hospice and end-of-life care, supporting over 200 hospices across the country. The organisation provides essential services for adults and children living with long-term or terminal illnesses, ensuring that everyone has access to high-quality, compassionate care regardless of their background.

In addition to direct care, Hospice UK advocates for policies that strengthen hospice services and helps ensure these organisations can continue to thrive amid rising demand.
Martin Saunders, Business Leader at Exeter and Devon Crematorium, said: “We’re honoured to support Hospice UK and the incredible work they do. This donation reflects our commitment to supporting compassionate care for individuals and families during life’s most difficult moments. It is important for us locally to contribute to a cause that makes such a real difference in our community.”
The donation from Exeter and Devon Crematorium will help fund essential hospice services, including bereavement support, pain management, and specialist care teams.
Adding to this, Martin told Exeter Today: “At Exeter and Devon Crematorium, we are deeply committed to serving our community with compassion and dignity. The recent donation of £5,000 to Hospice UK reflects our ongoing dedication to supporting organisations that make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, particularly during the most challenging times.”
“Hospice UK plays a vital role in ensuring that individuals facing terminal illness receive the care, comfort, and support they deserve. By contributing to their work, we hope to help extend that care to more families in need and reinforce the importance of accessible, high-quality end-of-life services. We also donated £5000 previously in July to Hospiscare, a local charity via a recycled metals scheme.”
These services are particularly important in Devon, where rural communities may face challenges in accessing end-of-life care. Local residents and families in the region rely on hospices not only for medical support but also for emotional and practical assistance during difficult times.
Hospice UK encourages individuals and organisations to support their work in any way they can, whether through donations, volunteering, or advocacy.
