Exeter City Council has welcomed international recognition after four of its cultural and heritage venues were named among the top 10 per cent of destinations worldwide in the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards, highlighting the city’s growing reputation in tourism.
An Exeter City Council spokesman told Exeter Today: “This highlights Exeter’s growing reputation as a city with a vibrant cultural and tourism offer. It’s great to see the hard work of our teams recognised globally and we’d also like to thank the thousands of visitors who shared their experiences and helped shine a light on what Exeter has to offer.”
The award-winning venues
Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM) - a must-see for visitors exploring Exeter’s cultural attractions.
Exeter Underground Passages - offering a unique glimpse into the city’s medieval history.
Exeter Red Coat Guided Tours - bringing local stories and heritage to life.
Exeter Corn Exchange - hosting a variety of performances and cultural events.
The awards are based entirely on visitor reviews over the past 12 months, reflecting high levels of satisfaction, engagement, and quality of experience, making them top choices for things to do in Exeter.
Council leaders said the recognition aligns with Exeter’s wider cultural strategy, supporting sustainable tourism, community engagement, and leisure activities, while reinforcing the city’s reputation as a destination for heritage and culture.
RAMM was also shortlisted earlier this year for the Museums + Heritage Awards’ Visitor Accessibility Award, alongside major institutions including the Welcome Collection and the Royal Collection Trust, underlining the city’s commitment to inclusivity.
The council praised its staff for delivering memorable experiences and thanked the thousands of visitors whose reviews helped place Exeter’s attractions on the global stage, encouraging both locals and tourists to explore the city’s rich cultural offering.
