Police are appealing for witnesses

Police are appealing for witnesses and footage following a serious assault in Cranbrook on Monday evening.

Officers were called at around 9.10pm on 1 September after reports that a 17-year-old boy had been assaulted near Morrisons supermarket. The victim was taken to hospital with suspected stab wounds. His condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

A 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, both from Cranbrook, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. They have since been released on bail until December pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector Neil Lloyd said: “Whilst crimes of this nature are rare, we understand there will be concern in the local community. There will be an increased police presence in the area today while we collect evidence and speak to witnesses.

“We are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident at this time.

“If you have any concerns or saw something, please speak to officers or call us on 101. We would also urge anyone who lives locally to check CCTV and dashcam footage that may have captured relevant evidence.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or via the website, quoting reference 50250227646.
