Sam Hopkins won the trip of a lifetime

An Exeter logistics supervisor has enjoyed a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the United States after being chosen from more than 2,000 colleagues for a special company programme.

Sam Hopkins, who works at Amazon’s delivery station, joined 17 colleagues from across the UK and Ireland on a week-long trip to Seattle as part of Amazon’s I Found the Right Place initiative.

The programme invites employees to share why they enjoy working for the company, with the best stories rewarded with a trip to Amazon’s global headquarters.

During the visit, Sam toured Amazon’s fulfilment centre, saw the latest technology in action and explored Seattle’s most famous landmarks, including the Space Needle, Pike Place Market and the Museum of Pop Culture.

Sam, who began working for Amazon in Exeter before taking on roles in France and then returning to the UK, now works as a supervisor. He said: “Starting as a Fulfilment Centre Associate, I’ve grown into an HR leader thanks to Amazon’s support and inclusive culture. To be chosen for this trip was really special.”

Reflecting on the highlight of his visit, Sam added: “Kerry Park at sunset was incredible – the view of the city skyline and Mount Rainier is something I’ll never forget.”

Ben Fellowes, Senior Delivery Station Manager at Amazon Exeter, said: “Sam is a fantastic supervisor and a role model to all of our Associates. We were thrilled when he won the trip to Seattle.”
