Friendly support is available
Devon County Council is reminding students across the county that free, friendly support is available with the upcoming A Level and GCSE results days.
The council’s network of Employment Hubs and Youth Hubs offers tailored help to anyone aged 16 and over who is exploring options for work, training, or further education.
Located in Exeter, Barnstaple, Honiton, Tiverton, Crediton, and Newton Abbot, the hubs provide one-to-one guidance on CV writing, interview preparation, career planning, and accessing apprenticeships or training.
Councillor Simon Clist, Cabinet Member for Employment and Skills, said: “Results day can be a turning point, and we want young people to know they’re not alone. Our welcoming staff are experts in helping people of all ages explore their options and giving practical help to take their next steps.”
Exeter Employment Hub co-ordinator Sarah Flower added: “We support a lot of people each year, but we’re not always the first place young people think of on results day. We want to remind them we’re here to help – whether that’s into further education, training, apprenticeships, or employment. We also support those with special educational needs and disabilities to find opportunities such as supported internships and apprenticeships.”
The hubs are funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and delivered in partnership with local councils. To find your nearest hub or book an appointment, visit devon.gov.uk/employment-hubs or email employmenthub@devon.gov.uk.
