Exeter is bracing for one of the  hottest days of the year so far, with temperatures forecast to hit 27°C this afternoon (Tuesday).

After a mild and slightly cloudy start, the skies were expected to clear quickly, bringing bright sunshine and hot conditions across the city and surrounding areas. While inland areas will feel the full heat, sea mist may drift onto parts of the south coast later in the day, offering some relief for coastal communities.

Tonight will stay warm and humid, with temperatures not falling below 16°C. Some low cloud and mist are likely to creep inland overnight, making for a grey start on Wednesday. However, sunny spells will soon return, with highs reaching 27°C — slightly cooler than today’s peak.

The outlook for the rest of the week remains summery, with sunny intervals and very warm temperatures on Friday and Saturday, potentially turning hot again in some areas.
