A section of the A380 will be closed overnight for essential maintenance from this week.
Work is due to take place between the Penn Inn Roundabout at Newton Abbot and the Edginswell Interchange near Torbay, starting on Thursday 19 June.
Initial lane closures will be in place overnight on Thursday and Friday (19–20 June) from 19.00 to 06.00, to allow for drainage inspections and replacement of damaged covers.
No work will take place over the weekend (21–22 June).
The main resurfacing work begins on the evening of Monday 23 June, with both carriageways closed overnight for up to six nights.
The road will reopen during the weekend (28–29 June), with a final overnight closure planned from 19.00 on Monday 30 June to 06.00 on Tuesday 1 July.
The treatment involves spraying a fine layer of bitumen onto the road to prolong its life, correct surface defects, and reduce stone loss. Road markings will be repainted once the surfacing is complete.
The route is a key link between Exeter and the South Devon coast, and drivers are being advised to allow extra time for journeys. A signed diversion will be in place.
Contractors are working with SWISCO, on behalf of Torbay Council, to carry out additional maintenance during the closures to minimise disruption.
