Stabbing in Exeter leaves man fighting for life

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 20s was found with multiple puncture wounds near the River Exe

A man in his 20s remains in a critical condition following a serious assault in Exwick, Exeter.

Emergency services were called to the scene near the River Exe off Station Road at around 5.50pm on Wednesday, 12 June, after the man was found with multiple puncture wounds.

He was initially taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital before being transferred to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, where he remains in a life-threatening condition.

A man, also in his 20s and from Exeter, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in police custody.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information as enquiries continue.

Detective Inspector Dave Ireland said: “We are appealing for anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area between 4.30pm and 6.30pm on 12 June to please contact us.

“The public will see an increased police presence in the area and we would encourage anyone with information or concerns to speak with officers or to contact us by calling 101.”

A police cordon remains in place near Station Road as officers continue to carry out searches and investigations.
