A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Exmouth.

Police were called at around 00:45am on Saturday 31 May following a report a man in his 20s had been assaulted and located in the garden of a property in Ashfield Close.

Emergency services attended the location but despite the best efforts of paramedics, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

Following the incident, two men in their 20s were located at an address in Hawthorn Grove, Exmouth, and arrested on suspicion of murder.

A third man, also in his 20s, has now been arrested in Exeter on suspicion of murder. All three suspects remain in custody at this time.

DCI Ian Jolliff said: “Scene guards have been put in place at the crime scene and at a second address in Exmouth.

“Residents will see a heightened police presence and visibility over the coming days as we gather evidence to deliver justice for the victim’s family.

“We ask residents affected by the police cordon to remain patient and stay in their houses if possible.

“Enquiries remain ongoing and we would like to appeal to anybody with information or relevant footage who has not yet spoken to us to contact 101 or our website quoting 50250136873.”
