A husband and wife who were found deceased at a property in Exmouth have been formally named by police.
Officers were called to an address in Briar Close at 6.30pm on Wednesday 7 May following reports of concern for the welfare of two people.
John Perkins, aged 66, and his wife Kathryn Perkins, aged 67, were both pronounced dead at the scene. Their next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers.
Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed today that both individuals had sustained gunshot wounds. A postmortem examination has been completed.
Kathryn’s death is currently being treated as suspicious, and police say the two fatalities are linked. However, officers have stated they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the deaths.
Two legally held and licensed firearms were recovered from the property and have been seized as part of the ongoing investigation.
In line with standard procedure in matters involving firearms licensing, Devon and Cornwall Police has made a voluntary referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
No further details have been released at this stage. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police quoting log 739 of 7 May.
