Devon dons its best hats for Headway

Exeter-based charity invites supporters to wear hats on 16 May to raise funds and awareness for brain injury support

Devon dons its best hats for Headway

Headway Devon is calling on the community to get creative with their headwear as part of their annual Hats for Headway fundraiser on Thursday 16 May.

The Exeter-based charity, which supports people across Devon living with brain injuries, is encouraging participants to wear a hat, make a donation, and share a photo online using #HatsForHeadway to show support.

Now a firm favourite on the fundraising calendar, the hat-themed day encourages everything from the quirky and comical to the bold and elegant. Whether it’s a top hat, sun hat or something homemade, it all goes towards raising awareness and vital funds for Headway Devon’s specialist rehabilitation services.

Ruth Wells, CEO at Headway Devon, said:

“Supporters of the day are encouraged to make a donation, wear a hat, take photos and share them on social media using the hashtag #HatsForHeadway.

It’s a fun way to support the serious work we do every day to help people living with brain injuries across Devon.”

The event also helps kick off Action for Brain Injury (ABI) Week, which runs from 19 to 25 May. This year’s theme is “On a Good Day”, aiming to shed light on the unpredictable and often invisible nature of brain injuries, and the vast difference in someone’s abilities between their best and worst days.

Headway Devon has been supporting individuals and families affected by brain injury for over 20 years, offering a range of services across the county - from community support and centre-based rehabilitation to outreach programmes and advocacy.
