Comedian Gareth McKean is returning to his Devon roots this summer, bringing his stand-up show Glory Daze to Forde Hall Social Club on Saturday, 2 August 2025.
Born in Brixham, adopted at six weeks, and raised between a pub in Plymouth and a caravan in Cornwall, Gareth’s childhood was anything but ordinary. He moved to Australia at age ten, and now, after decades away, he’s “coming home” with a suitcase full of stories and punchlines to match.
“If I was to be honest about the last five years doing comedy,” Gareth says, “I’ve always had one underlying goal – to go back to where my life started and perform in my birthplace, Devon.”
From his early days surviving the British seaside to building a new life Down Under, Gareth’s journey has shaped a show that’s equal parts nostalgic, hilarious, and heart-warming. Glory Daze promises an evening of laughs and reflections on “what was, what is, and what probably will be.”
“This show has literally been 54 years in the making,” he adds. “Whether you’re walking, driving, or even on the Paignton Zoo train, get there. It’s going to be the biggest.”
Gareth has spent the last five years carving out a name for himself on Australia’s stand-up circuit. Now, with his Aussie accent and Westcountry humour in full swing, he’s inviting friends, family, and fans to help sell out the Newton Abbot venue.
He’ll be joined on stage by 2023 Cornish Comedian of the Year and crowd favourite, Ben Treloar, for what promises to be a cracking night of comedy.
