Cancer Research UK’s much-loved Race for Life events are set to return to Exeter this summer, giving locals the chance to raise vital funds for life-saving cancer research — and enjoy a muddy good time along the way.
Taking place at Westpoint Exeter on Saturday 19 July, the events include a range of options for all ages and fitness levels, from 3k, 5k and 10k routes to the fun-filled Pretty Muddy obstacle course. There’s even a Pretty Muddy Kids event for ages 6 to 12.
People who sign up between Monday 17 March and Sunday 6 April can claim 30% off the entry fee using the code 30SPRING.
"No matter how cancer affects us, life is worth racing for," said Sam Morris, Cancer Research UK’s spokesperson. "We’d love for as many people as possible across Exeter to join us at Race for Life. There is an event for everyone, and we mean everyone. Our events are strictly non-competitive, so there’s no pressure to finish in a certain time. Just give it what you can, lace up and join in."
Whether you’re living with cancer, running in memory of someone, or just taking part for the fun and fundraising, Race for Life has a place for everyone.
Since launching in 1994, more than 10 million people have taken part in Race for Life events across the UK, raising millions for Cancer Research UK. That money helps fund pioneering work including the HPV vaccine, radiotherapy treatments, and breakthrough drugs like abiraterone, which is giving men with advanced prostate cancer more time with loved ones.
This year’s Race for Life is held in partnership with headline sponsor Standard Life, part of Phoenix Group.
"By working to raise funds for life-saving research, we can move towards a future where people live longer and better lives, free from the fear of cancer," said Standard Life CEO Andy Curran.
