Devon and Cornwall Police are appealing for information following a series of distraction thefts targeting elderly shoppers at supermarkets in Exeter and Exmouth.

The incidents, which took place on Monday, 22 January, saw a man and a woman approach victims at Sainsbury’s Alphington, Sainsbury’s Pinhoe, and Tesco Exmouth.

While one engaged the victim in conversation, the other stole purses from trolleys or handbags.

Officers investigating the thefts believe the two individuals pictured may have vital information and are urging the public to help identify them.

The suspects are also believed to have been travelling in a silver BMW 3 or M3 Series.

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police on 101 or via the force’s website, quoting crime reference number 50250018421.
