Cancer Lifeline South West (CLSW) is inviting families to a day of entertainment and fundraising at its first-ever Family Fun Day on 27 April.
The event will take place at Ugbrooke House, near Newton Abbot, and will feature live music, a dog show, sports demonstrations, and activities for all ages.
CLSW provides free ‘Time to Retune’ retreats for people who have completed cancer treatment, along with their primary carers.
These breaks offer a chance to reflect, recover, and plan for the future. As the charity receives no public funding, it relies on fundraising and donations to continue its work.
Donna Cook, Chair of Trustees, said: "One in two of us will be diagnosed with cancer in our lifetime, and almost everyone knows someone who has been impacted by it. The feedback we receive shows how valuable these breaks are, not just for attendees but for their families, friends, and colleagues. We hope this Family Fun Day will help us raise much-needed funds to continue offering this vital service."
The event has been made possible by Alexander and Lucy Clifford, who have donated the use of Ugbrooke House for the day. The Newton Abbot Rotary Club will be managing parking.
Trustee and event organiser Kate McCormick added: "We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our partners and the community. Organising an event like this takes a lot of hard work, but we know it will be worth it when we see families coming together and having fun. Now we just need the sunshine to make it even more special."
CLSW is seeking sponsors and supporters to help cover event costs, ensuring all money raised goes directly towards running the ‘Time to Retune’ retreats.
