Hundreds of runners put their best foot forward along the scenic paths of the River Exe last weekend, as the Exeter City Community Trust (ECCT) Half Marathon made a triumphant dash back onto the city’s sporting calendar.
A total of 1,400 tickets were sold across the two-day event, with Saturday and Sunday seeing a strong turnout of participants tackling the scenic route. This year also saw the introduction of a new distance, the Riverside Five Miles, which attracted 200 runners eager to take on a shorter challenge.
Organised by Exeter City Community Trust, the official charity partner of Exeter City Football Club, the event is one of six major running fixtures held annually.
As well as promoting health and fitness, it raises vital funds for ECCT’s community initiatives, including education projects, Supported Housing, and Parasports sessions.
Jamie Vittles, chief executive of ECCT, said: “It’s always inspiring to see so many people coming together, whether to achieve a personal goal, raise money for charity, or simply enjoy the experience of running. Many thanks to all of our sponsors and volunteers. Events like this help us continue our work in supporting people of all ages in our community.”
With runners of all abilities taking part and the event growing each year, the Exeter City Community Trust Half Marathon continues to cement itself as a highlight of the city’s sporting calendar.
