A reminder to register for Devon County Council elections

People in Exeter are being reminded that while there will be no City Council elections in 2025, the Devon County Council elections will take place on Thursday, 1 May 2025.

For those wishing to vote in the county elections, it is crucial to ensure they are on the electoral register.

Anyone unsure of their registration status can check or register by visiting the official government website at Gov.uk Register to Vote.

If residents are uncertain about their registration, they can also contact the City Council at electoral.services@exeter.gov.uk or by calling 01392 265141.

In addition to registration, voters must also make sure they have appropriate photo ID if they plan to vote in person at a polling station. For a full list of accepted photo IDs, residents can visit the Electoral Commission’s website.

For those who cannot or do not wish to vote in person, postal voting is an option. Applications for postal votes can be made by visiting the Electoral Commission’s postal voting page.

It’s important to note that Exeter City Council elections will not take place in 2025. This is due to the ‘thirds’ system used by the City Council, where elections are held every third year for councillors. The next City Council election will be in 2026.
