Film enthusiasts in Exeter now have the opportunity to experience cinema in a more social and engaging way, thanks to the Go Together Club at Exeter Phoenix. The initiative, which encourages shared viewing and post-screening discussions, will host screenings on 10 February and 24 February at Studio 74.
The club was introduced last year following conversations with local audiences who were keen to see films but felt hesitant about attending alone. With support from the BFI Film Audience Network, the initiative has grown into a community-led experience, including a dedicated WhatsApp group and facilitated discussions led by a Studio 74 programming team member.
Robyn Lawrence, Film Programme Coordinator at Exeter Phoenix, described the impact of the club, saying: "The Go Together Club began organically and has given audience members an opportunity to feel more confident attending the cinema in a safe environment, share their experience with fellow cinema-goers, and try films they might not have before. I have loved having the opportunity to sit and hear what people think of the films, and the conversations that they inspire when given space to breathe."
The upcoming screenings include:
Nickel Boys – 10 February, 2.00pm
I Am Martin Parr – 24 February, 5.30pm
Tickets for Go Together Club screenings are available for £6 using the code BUILD74. Those interested in joining the club’s community can connect through the Exeter Phoenix website or join the WhatsApp group.
