Serious four-vehicle crash in Exeter

Police are appealing for witnesses to the Bridge Road collision that has left two elderly women with 'life changing' injuries

Police are investigating a serious road traffic collision in Exeter that left two elderly women with severe injuries.

Officers were called to Bridge Road at around 4.25pm on Sunday, 2 February, following a crash involving four vehicles.

Emergency services, including Devon and Cornwall Police, South Western Ambulance Service, Devon Air Ambulance, and Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, attended the scene.

As a result of the collision, an 80-year-old local woman sustained life-threatening injuries, while another 80-year-old local woman suffered life-changing injuries. The women were travelling in separate vehicles.

Bridge Road was closed for several hours to allow for a forensic examination of the scene and the recovery of the vehicles.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant dash-cam footage to get in touch by calling 101 or visiting the Devon and Cornwall Police website, quoting log 516 of 2 February.
