Devon and Cornwall Police are urging businesses in Exeter to remain vigilant after a man used counterfeit £20 notes at the Moto BP petrol station on Sidmouth Road.

The incident occurred on the evening of Sunday, 26 January, when the suspect paid for fuel with three fake £20 notes.

The man is described as white, in his early 30s, around 6ft tall, and of medium to stocky build. He was dressed in black at the time of the incident.

Police have issued an alert advising businesses to be wary and to inform staff about the circulation of fake money.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police by phoning 101 or via the Devon and Cornwall Police website, quoting reference 595 27 January.

If you suspect someone may be in possession of counterfeit currency, you are advised to call 999 immediately.
