The South West can expect grey skies and chilly temperatures this weekend, with cloudy weather dominating the outlook and flood alerts in force across parts of England.
The region will see a murky night ahead, with overcast skies and patches of hill fog forming over the Moors. While it will stay mild for most, rural areas under slightly clearer skies could experience a localised frost, as temperatures dip to a minimum of 0°C. Winds are expected to remain light throughout the night.
Saturday will bring a mix of conditions, with cloudier skies in the east and occasional drizzle, while the west may enjoy brighter spells and sunshine. Despite the settled weather, grey skies will keep temperatures feeling cold, peaking at a maximum of 8°C.
The settled weather will continue into Sunday, with mainly dry but cloudy conditions. Light rain is expected to move in on Monday and Tuesday, although some brighter intervals are possible during the day. Overnight frosts could develop in some areas, contributing to a chilly feel as temperatures drop.
While significant flooding is not expected, the South of England may see localised flooding from groundwater by Monday. This could affect land, roads, and even some properties, with the potential for travel disruption.
Residents might want to keep their hot chocolate and woolly socks at the ready, this weekend’s weather is serving more grey than great!
