The carol service will broadcast on ITV1 and ITVX tonight at 7:30pm
A Cornwall-based children’s charity, Go Beyond, was spotlighted in the Princess of Wales’ 'Together at Christmas' carol service, hosted at Westminster Abbey on December 6.
The annual event highlights the values of love, empathy, and mutual support, particularly during challenging times.
Go Beyond, which provides breaks for children and young people facing serious challenges, was featured through a short film showcasing six young carers aged 8 to 13.
These children, who shoulder significant family responsibilities, were given a respite at Go Beyond’s Coastal Centre in Par, Cornwall.
During their visit, they enjoyed outdoor activities, formed new friendships, and experienced a rare moment of relief from their daily challenges.
Centre Manager Sharon Retallick, who accompanied the children to the service, shared her pride: “We were incredibly honoured that our charity was chosen to feature in the service. Go Beyond has provided over 1,000 breaks this year to children living in difficult circumstances. Our centres give children a place to feel safe and cared for, where they can discover nature, friendship, and hope for a brighter future.”
The children were invited to attend the carol service, which will broadcast on ITV1 and ITVX on Christmas Eve at 7:30pm.
The Princess of Wales used this year’s service to celebrate those who demonstrate acts of compassion and inspire others, like the young carers featured in the film.
The charity’s mission is to give children facing adversity a chance to experience joy and build lasting memories.
Founded in 1992, Go Beyond has provided over 20,000 children with free breaks at their centres in Cornwall and Derbyshire.
