Cyclist 'seriously injured' in Exeter collision

Cyclist, a man in his 70s, sustained life-threatening injuries after a collision with an Audi on Bridge Road

Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was seriously injured in a collision in Exeter on Friday, December 13.

Emergency services were called to Bridge Road, near the junction with Countess Wear Road, at around 3:30pm following the incident involving a black Audi Q5 and a male cyclist.

The cyclist, a man in his 70s from Exeter, sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital for treatment.

The Audi driver, a man in his 70s from Dawlish, was uninjured in the crash.

The road was closed for approximately six hours while police carried out an investigation at the scene. Officers are now working to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant dashcam footage to come forward.

In particular, police are keen to speak with the driver of a white Ford Transit van who assisted at the scene.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the police to help with the ongoing investigation.
