The market has been cancelled due to the stormy weather

Due to the weather warnings in place today (Saturday 7 December), Exeter Cathedral Christmas Market will be closed to ensure the safety of visitors and traders.
A spokesperson said: "We expect Exeter Cathedral Christmas Market to open as usual on Sunday but will continue to monitor the conditions closely and update our website and social media should there be any changes."

The fixture between Bristol Bears Women and Exeter Chiefs Women has been postponed due to the adverse weather conditions caused by Storm Darragh.

Red and amber weather warnings were put in place for much of the West Country and following an inspection of Ashton Gate Stadium and pitch this morning, and with further high winds forecast, it was considered unsafe for supporters to attend this afternoon’s game.

The Donkey Sanctuary has closed its Sidmouth site on Saturday (December 7) and postponed its Carols by Candlelight service, which had been due to take place last night (December 6).

In a statement, it said: "Due to the Weather Warning for south west England, The Donkey Sanctuary has taken the difficult decision to postpone our annual Carols by Candlelight service at our Sidmouth HQ today, Friday 6th December.

"With forecast winds of up to 55mph and heavy rain, the safety of our donkeys, visitors, volunteers and staff must take priority. A decision regarding the re-scheduling of the event will be taken in the next 48 hours.

"Given the forecast for Saturday, we have also made the decision to close our Sidmouth site to visitors on Saturday 7th December.

"We apologise for the disappointment that may be felt over this matter, but trust that all our supporters will understand our decision."
