Exeter’s festive pop-up shop by Cards For Good Causes at St Martin’s Church is nearing the end of its season, offering shoppers a unique chance to make their Christmas purchases truly meaningful.
As the UK’s largest multi-charity card and gift retailer, Cards For Good Causes partners with over 70 local and national charities, raising vital funds while bringing the community together.
Founded in 1959 by James “Jim” Jackson, then Secretary of the British Diabetic Association, Cards For Good Causes began as a coordinated effort among medical charities to sell Christmas cards.
Over the years, it has grown into a celebrated institution of festive charitable giving, supported by 5,000 dedicated volunteers across the UK. These volunteers are at the heart of the operation, helping to raise funds and ensure the shop’s success.
Through its pop-up shops and online store, Cards For Good Causes raises funds for over 100 charities annually, including Alzheimer’s Society, Cancer Research UK, RSPCA, NSPCC, and Diabetes UK, alongside numerous local organisations.
In the last decade, the initiative has raised over £22.5 million for charities and contributed an additional £2.7 million to community projects such as churches and libraries, ensuring purchases make an impact close to home.
This year, sustainability takes centre stage. Cards and envelopes are recyclable, glitter- and plastic-free, and produced in the UK using FSC-certified materials. Providers are chosen for their ethical and sustainable credentials, ensuring shoppers can support good causes with a clear conscience.
The Exeter pop-up shop is a festive treasure trove, brimming with stunning greeting cards, advent calendars, elegant gift wrap, seasonal decorations, charming homeware, and thoughtfully curated gifts—all ethically sourced to make your holiday shopping extra special.
Christine Ansell, CEO of Cards For Good Causes, urges local shoppers to seize the opportunity to make a difference this season:
“This is the final call for Exeter shoppers to support charities while preparing for Christmas. Every card, gift, and decoration purchased contributes to life-changing work and helps strengthen local communities. We are deeply grateful for the support we’ve received so far.”
For those unable to visit the Exeter shop before it closes, the full range of cards, gifts, and decorations is available online, click here.
