Persimmon and Sidmouth RFC
Local housebuilder Persimmon Homes South West has announced an exciting three-year partnership with Sidmouth RFC, strengthening ties with the community and supporting grassroots rugby.
The sponsorship, which focuses on the club’s junior section, includes financial backing and the purchase of new post protectors and touchline flags for the senior teams.
The funding comes through Persimmon’s Community Champions initiative, a program that donates £24,000 annually to local causes across the region.
Founded in 1884, Sidmouth RFC boasts a rich history as one of Devon’s earliest rugby clubs, evolving into a vibrant hub for both junior and senior rugby talent.
Since pioneering junior rugby in Devon in 1971, the club has played a pivotal role in fostering the sport for boys, girls, and senior teams.
Persimmon South West, a five-star housebuilder with a strong presence in East Devon, views the partnership as a natural fit. Managing Director Dan Heathcote expressed the company’s pride in supporting the club:
“Sidmouth RFC is a cornerstone of the local community, providing fantastic opportunities for young players to develop their skills and passion for the sport. Supporting this aligns perfectly with the goals of the business and our Community Champions initiative. We look forward to seeing the positive impact of this partnership.”
The partnership has been warmly received by Sidmouth RFC, with Director of Sponsorships and Corporate Partnerships Stuart Nairne-Clark highlighting its significance for the club’s future:
“The next three years are important for the club, and with partners like Persimmon South West, we are confident we can achieve our ambitions for growth and development, both on and off the field.”
As part of the sponsorship, the junior teams will benefit from enhanced resources, ensuring they can continue to thrive. Meanwhile, the senior squads will enjoy upgraded equipment, cementing the club’s reputation as a rugby powerhouse in the region.
