Firefighters spent hours tackling the blaze
An inspection was taking place today at an Exeter scrapyard after a huge blaze which lit up the night sky.
At one point firefighters urged residents to keep their windows closed.
The fire broke out in an industrial unit on Marsh Barton, near Sainsbury's at 8.37pm yesterday.
Five fire engines, an aerial ladder platform and a water bowser were in attendance.
At 4.40am firefighters announced they had extinguished the blaze. A fire service spokesperson said the cause was believed to be accidental.
