Running scared!

Ghosts and ghouls were among runners headed to Exeter Quay for the popular Halloween Run, hosted by Exeter City Community Trust (ECCT).

With the autumn sun shining, 400 runners tackled the scenic five and 10-mile routes alongside the River Exe, adding both fun and a bit of fright to the autumn air.

As the partner charity of Exeter City Football Club, ECCT stages running events to generate essential income that supports its community programmes across Exeter.

Jamie Vittles, Chief Executive of ECCT, said: “A massive thank you to all our runners, sponsors, and volunteers who make these events possible. Their support directly impacts our work in the city, allowing us to continue offering services that benefit local people.”

The event was made possible through the support of headline sponsor Tozers, alongside community partners Exeter Live Better, Radio Exe, Trowers & Hamlins, and the ILEC Group. Their contributions allow ECCT to invest event profits back into the community, helping fund programmes and initiatives.

Additionally, ECCT provided free race entries to runners representing local charities, including Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF), Julian House, Alright Mate? CIC, and Children’s Hospice South West.

Top finishers were Oscar Stapleton and Amy Jones, who took first place in the men’s and women’s categories for the 10-mile race, respectively. Sam Bailey was the first male finisher for the 5-mile event, with Nicky Savill coming in as the first female.

As ECCT wraps up another successful Halloween Run, the charity now sets its sights on the upcoming Santa Run, set to take place on Sunday, December 1. This festive event features a family-friendly 2.5k fun run and a 5k race through Exeter’s city centre, offering a joyful way to kick off the holiday season.
