A recent South West Children's Hospice Memory Walk
Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is organising a Moonlight Memory Walk on Sunday November 24, 2024 at Powderham Castle in Exeter.
Registration is open with a 20 percent discount offer on tickets until Monday September 2.
The Moonlight Memory Walk, raising funds to support children and young people with life-limiting conditions, is an uplifting evening which gives people the opportunity to remember and celebrate the lives of their loved ones. The event includes a memory ceremony before walking 4km along beautifully lit paths surrounding the castle.
Gentle live music will be played during the walk and there will be delicious refreshments available from food stalls at the end of the walk.
Along the route there will be special points to pause and reflect, whilst completing an activity to mark those they are remembering including personalising candle bags with messages and names to the ones you are walking in memory of.
Kate Romo, Events Fundraiser for CHSW, said:“We feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to hold our Moonlight Memory Walk at Powderham Castle this year.
"It is a very poignant event for everyone who takes part, and we welcome participants from across Devon, and further afield to remember their loved ones, whether it is a parent, grandparent, child, family-member or friend.
“This incredible location makes the evening all the more special. Walkers are encouraged to raise a small amount of sponsorship in memory of their loved ones, helping to raise funds to ensure children and young people from across the South West can access the care and support they need from their local children’s hospice.”
Rhiannon, a bereaved mum from Exeter, will be at the event to share a little about the support her family received. Shesaid: “My son Fred passed away at two months old as, at birth, his brain was starved of oxygen, causing a significant brain injury and severe epilepsy.
"Children's Hospice South West’s Little Bridge House provided hospice care for him, taking care of Fred during his end of life, and made a horrific situation as good as it could possibly be. We are forever grateful for the memories we made and the kindness shown to each and every one of us.”
