Food festival will serve up tasty treats

Bar Buoy Cocktails will be at the event organised by Greendale Farm Shop

Hosted by the award-winning, family-run Greendale Farm Shop, in collaboration with Food Drink Devon, Love Local Food Festival celebrates the finest local food and drink.

For the very first time, Love Local Food Festival is taking place on Saturday 10th August from 10am to 7pm, set in the historic Exeter Castle just off Exeter High Street, and is free to enter.

A feast for the senses, the festival celebrates over 70 food and drink producers, mainly from Devon, including popular street food vendors il Cornicione Pizza, Harry’s Kitchen, Hearty Hippie and more. There’ll be artisan-baked breads, coffees, small-batch spirits and exceptional deli and pantry items.

Just some of Food Drink Devon’s members participating include Bar Buoy Cocktails, Boo Chi Kombucha, Exe Chocolate, Flapjackery, Good Game Grill, Granny Gothards, Huxbear Vineyard, Jamu Water, Quickes, Sharpham Cheese, Shepherd Shack, Thunderflower Gin, Ventons Devon Cyder, Wavi Coffee, West Country Olives and many others. In addition, there’ll be a Greendale BBQ, delicious fish platters from Greendale Fishmongers and tasty treats from Greendale’s bakery and deli too.

Visitors will also find a variety of non-food and drink brands such as BeenBo & Co, Devon Beeswax Wraps Co, Artist Chloe May, Stan’s Paws Pet Supplies, Winsor Flower Studio and John Lewis & Partners.

Talking about the inspiration behind the first Love Local Food Festival by Greendale, Tom Lomas, Head of Retail and Hospitality at Greendale, said: "Supporting local businesses is at the heart of what we do at Greendale.  Hosting the Love Local Food Festival is our way of celebrating the superb growers, producers and makers here in the West Country.

Following the success of our Love Local Christmas Market at John Lewis & Partners last year, we wanted to bring even more fantastic producers back to Exeter city centre. The festival will showcase the best local food and drink along with live music, masterclasses, talks and demonstrations throughout the day while being free for visitors to enter.”

Greg Parsons, Chair of Food Drink Devon, added: “Food Drink Devon is extremely excited to collaborate with Greendale to launch the first Love Local Food Festival.  The festival will not only highlight the incredible talent and quality of the region’s food and drink producers but will also bring together the food and drink community which is so important.

"Food Drink Devon is committed to increasing Devon’s food and drink profile, and food festivals are an integral part of that.”
