Film places agriculture in the spotlight

Film places agriculture in the spotlight

The film is screening at Exeter Picturehouse

Eagerly-anticipated documentary Six Inches of Soil will be screened at Exeter Picturehouse on Thursday March 28, to a sold-out audience.

Director, Colin Ramsay, said: “With the film, we’re creating a personal window into the world of three farmers in different counties across England who are farming regeneratively in arable, livestock and horticulture systems. We’ve chosen new entrants into agriculture to help inspire the next generation and show viewers the highs and lows of farm life."

The film has strong links to Devon as one of the three stars, Ben Thomas, grazes his cattle on the edge of Bodmin Moor. The Exeter screening will include a panel session chaired by Emily Reed, Climate Emergency Lead for Devon County Council, and include Ben and Harriet Bell, Regenerative Farming Lead, Riverford Organic Farmers.

BBC food journalist, Dan Saladino said: “I loved Six Inches of Soil because it contains amazing stories of people embarking on change. For that reason it made me feel hopeful, it made me realise how difficult change is going to be and most of all it needs us to be involved, and I think that’s why the film’s important, it’s an invitation for us to get engaged in this food system.”
