Laura Cameron Long, Head of Development and Philanthropy at Devon Community, and Richard Addington, Director of Jackson-Stops Exeter
Jackson-Stops in Exeter has agreed to support Devon Community Foundation throughout 2024.
The Exeter office will pioneer a new way for the estate agents and their clients to give back to their community. They will donate 2.5 per cent of their commission earned from the sale of any new client’s property, when asked to do so, and will also help to raise awareness of Devon Community Foundation amongst other potential donors.
Devon Community Foundation exists to inspire and support philanthropic giving that enables action by communities to make Devon a fairer, greener county. It does this by distributing grants to voluntary and community organisations on behalf of individual and family donors, businesses and other funding organisations who want their money to support real change in the places where they live or work.
In 2022/23 Devon Community Foundation distributed more than £1m in grant funding to groups and charities across Devon. Work funded included groups meeting essential needs such as food and heating, projects to provide access to mental health support for both young people and adults, community initiatives to reduce crime and support its victims and work to protect our unique natural environment. The foundation hopes to extend the funding it can provide for communities even further this year but can only do this with the support of donors and collaborators such as Jackson-Stops Exeter.
Richard Addington, Director of Jackson-Stops Exeter said: “With deep roots in Devon we are delighted to be supporting an organisation that does so much good work to help communities thrive in the county.”
Ceri Goddard, CEO at Devon Community Foundation, said: “We are delighted that Jackson-Stops Exeter has chosen to partner with Devon Community Foundation in this way. They are both leading and innovating in their sector and the wider business community. It’s a great example of how, working together with us, businesses can make a positive change in their communities. We are planning to develop many more excellent partnerships like this one over the next year and are keen to hear from others looking to contribute to change.”
