Devon was in the grip a cold snap

Devon residents woke up to a blanket of snow

More snow was forecast in Devon as the temperature remained bitterly cold with an icy wind.

Residents woke to snow across many areas as the amber 'risk to life' weather warning remained in place. The Met Office said there would be 'further significant accumulations' as it continued to fall in some parts throughout the day, often heavy and persistent.

Gritters and snow ploughs had been out throughout the night and early in the morning keeping roads clear in Devon.
